Les Fleurs du Mal is a volume of French poetry by Charles Baudelaire. The poems deal with themes relating to decadence and eroticism. While the first edition was banned for its indecency, the second was published in 1861 without the six condemned poems.
The book object contains all 126 poems as well as the forbidden pieces, hidden in the folding of the back cover. Eleven graphic translations of individual poems set a dark atmosphere at the beginning of the book. The pieces are divided into six groups, gradually leading into despair and eventually into the inevitable abyss. The described downfall is resonated on the cover. Red haptic paper resembles leather covering the bare body of the book.
